“ If you were to ask me why I didn’t fully sand this canvas, I’d say I was too lazy to do it. But if you were to ask me on a deeper level, I’d say Fear. Or, I guess a lack of fear. If you saw this canvas as prickly or not properly sanded, you wouldn’t touch it. Why? Fear. You’d think it was dangerous. To that, I’d say you think I’m not scared too? I’m scared just as you are reading this. Scared that you don’t understand why I’m doing this. Scared that you’ll look at this and say I’m not a real artist. Scared that this actually isn’t real art and I’m actually not a real artist. The point is that fear gets in the way. Fear stops you from doing things the way you want. With this piece, I practiced a lack of fear. I don’t care what you think about my art. I know it’s real art. Some might think that it’s arrogant or cocky. I’d say that’s okay because I’m not scared of you either. FEAR HAS NO POWER OVER ME”
