A Disappointed Smile
KayJ Hood
Violent stained memories;
Bruises planted on like accessories.
Feelings of love to hate’s touch
couldn’t leave because she loves Him too much.
A chemical devil stole her lover’s heart,
He wasn’t like this from the start.
Blood smearing on her lips like art,
She brought up having time apart.
“You never loved me!” He starts to shout.
Alcohol flooding from His mouth.
“I won’t ever let you go” He pled,
His beer bottle connects to her head.
Blood spatters as she hit the floor,
her body couldn’t take it anymore.
“Baby, I’m sorry” He starts to implore,
His soul shaken to the core.
He covered her body in a sheet
filled with remorse He called the police–
her figure battered; her features obscene.
They found him crying at the scene.
Years later He walks alone with guilt–
Tore down every wall she built.
Often He wishes it was all a blur;
He still sees the ghost of her.
Longing to be together amiss
His lover now ceased to exist
He still remembers the fast of her last
A Disappointed Smile as she passed

Born and raised in a small town outside of Chicago, I am a self-made artist that continues to find my purpose in life through the things I love to do most, creating art and inspiring others to create. Growing up, going to mostly private religious based schools, I found my passion for art in an afterschool art club. From then on, everything was about art.
